Southeastern Regional Meeting 2016



The awards listed below will be presented at the 2016 SERMACS awards luncheon at 12 noon on Wednesday the 26th.  For more information click on the links below.  Nomination deadlines were July 15.

ACS CHED Southeast Region Award for Excellence in High School Teaching 

The 2016 recipient is Robert R. Gotwals, Jr. of the North Carolina School of Sciences and Mathematics.


ACS E. Ann Nalley Regional Award for Volunteer Service

The 2016 recipient is Dr. William H. "Jack" Breazeale, Jr.



ACS Stanley Israel Award for Advancing Diversity in the Chemical Sciences

The 2016 recipient is Dr. Gina MacDonald of James Madison University.



SERMACS Industrial Innovation Award

The 2016 recipient is Ecodyst of Cary, NC, George Adjabeng, Founder and CEO.


Partners for Progress and Prosperity Award

The 2016 recipient of 3P award is the partnership of the Virginia ACS Section Minority Affairs Committee and NOBCChe.

The awards committee is composed of

The Committee Chair who is the immediate past chair of the SERMACS, Inc. board.

The Local Awards Chair of the previous (2015) SERMACS meeting. 

The Local Awards Chair of the current (2016) SERMACS meeting. 

The Local Awards Chair of the next (2017) SERMACS meeting.  

In addition, for the High School Teacher Award, there is a representative from the Chemical Education Division.
